I recently read where Peter denied God. That put me to thinking... How many of us deny God? How many of us deny the power in His name? Do you truly love God? Or, will you cower to just knowing OF Jesus?
Luke 22:52-63
(52) Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? (53) When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. (54) Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. (55) And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. (56) But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. (57) And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. (58) And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. (59)
And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean. (60) And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. (61) And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he has said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. (62) And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. (63) And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

Now, my main idea of why Peter denied Jesus is that Peter was scared for his life. Maybe Peter thought that if he said he did not know Jesus, his world would be safer. How could anyone think that life without Jesus is safe? How could you look at your God, be following your God, and still deny knowing Him? But that's what I see people doing. People are more concerned about how they look, feel, and act than about how much they know God and what He wants. Do you know that God is a good father and only wants what's best for you? How could you deny Him, Peter??? How could you turn your back on your God?? This is a cry, a plea for people to remember their God. He is the One who made you. He died for you. He is the One who will never desert you! PETER, WHY DID YOU DENY YOUR GOD?!!!!!!!
How could you deny your God, Peter? How could you spend years with Him and then turn your back? How could you pretend to be His friend and then leave when you should have helped Him? How did you look Jesus Christ in the face and say, "Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee (Matthew 26:35)" ??? You looked Jesus in the face Peter. You lied to Him!! You were friends, Peter. You were sooooo close, Peter. AND YOU BETRAYED YOUR GOD!!!! Peter, Why?
How could you deny your God, Peter? How could you go to pray with Him, God Almighty, and fall asleep? He needed you, Peter. He wanted you to be strong. He wanted your prayers because He knew that He would soon leave this world.
Peter, what were you thinking? Dear Peter, were you that scared? Didn't you have faith that Jesus could take care of you? I understand your fear, Peter. I've dealt with fear all my life too. But God has brought me out. God could have delivered you, too. Peter, didn't you walk on the water with God?
Peter, there is still hope for you. God still loves you. Repent and get straight with God. He will never leave you. He will be a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He will love you forever.
I'm here to encourage you, Peter. You did an awesome job in preaching the Act 2:38 message. Acts 2:38 says, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." That was YOU!! Look at how you changed!!! You went from denying Jesus to preaching the message that will save millions of lives. You have made a BIG difference. You repented and got your life straight. What an awesome thing!!! What a MAJOR breakthrough!!
You see, it doesn't matter if you've denied God. He will listen if you read His word and become closer to Him. He will talk to you. He will give you your own message to tell people. You may not preach in front a group of people; but you can change someone's life. You have not been forgotten, Peter. You have not gone so far that Jesus can't help you come back. Just reach for Him. God will match your effort with His. When you have God on your side, all things are possible.
You could be like Peter and change the lives of many. Will you deny God and His power? Or will you take part of a new level with Jesus? You alone can pick which road to follow. Jesus, please help me not to deny You. Help me to keep Your commandments, my Lord. Please help me, Jesus. I do not want to fail You. Please keep me in Your hands and continue to draw me.
